Privacy Policy
No ads. No trackers.
Nothing to sell.
Fauna Fantasy is a game, not a funnel. This page covers every piece of data it touches, where that data lives and who can see it. Mostly, that's you.
The short version
We handle as little of your data as we can
- No ads. None in the game and none planned. No banners and no "watch a video for a reward".
- No trackers, no analytics. The app contains no third-party code at all: no ad networks, no analytics kits, no tracking tools. There's nothing to track, so the game never shows Apple's "Allow tracking?" prompt.
- Nothing sold, nothing shared for marketing. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- Your saves are yours. They live on your devices and in your own iCloud account. Apple gives developers no way into a player's private iCloud data, so we can't read them.
- Apple handles the money. Purchases go through the App Store. We never see your card or your Apple Account.
- Game Center is Apple's. The Arena, leaderboards and achievements use your Game Center nickname and player ID, under Apple's privacy rules.
- We run no servers. The game talks to Apple's services (iCloud, Game Center and the App Store) and to nothing else.
- This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from anyone else.

Who we are
Fauna Fantasy is made by SideResult Software, a small studio in Portland, Oregon ("we" and "us" on this page). Questions about anything here go to sales@sideresult.com, or reach us through sideresult.com.
Where your data lives
Here is everything at a glance. The sections below give the detail.
| What | Where it lives | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Your journals (saves), your Starseed wallet and your game settings | On your device, and in your own iCloud account if iCloud is on | You. Apple stores the iCloud copy; we can't read it. |
| Your Game Center nickname, player ID, avatar, scores and achievements | Apple's Game Center | You, the players Game Center shows them to (friends, opponents, leaderboards) under your Game Center settings, and Apple. Like any player, we can see leaderboards. |
| Arena matches | Sent between you and your opponent through Game Center. Your match history is part of your journal. | You and your opponent (Game Center carries them) |
| Your purchases | Apple's App Store | Apple. We get sales totals, not names. |
| Crash reports and usage statistics | Apple | Shared with us by Apple only if you've chosen to share with app developers |
| The shape of your room (Apple Vision Pro room battles only) | On your Vision Pro, only while the battle runs | No one else. It isn't saved, and it's never sent to us. |
| An email you send us | Our inbox | Us |
Your saves and iCloud
The game saves your journals, your Starseed wallet and your settings on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, it keeps them in step across your devices with Apple's CloudKit, in the private database of your own iCloud account. That space belongs to you. Apple gives developers no way to open another person's private iCloud data, so we can't read, change or restore what's in there.
That's good for privacy, but it means we can't recover lost progress for you either. If you play on more than one device, keep iCloud on for the game. With iCloud off, everything stays on that one device.
To keep your journals and purchases with the right person, the game uses the anonymous ID that iCloud gives each player of this particular game. It isn't your name, your email or your Apple Account.
Game Center: the Arena, leaderboards and achievements
When the game starts, it signs you in to Game Center if your device is already signed in. You'll see Apple's usual welcome banner. Game Center gives the game your nickname, your player ID and your avatar, which it uses for:
- Achievements and leaderboards. Your achievements, your best runs, your Daily Trial scores and your Arena rating go to Game Center. Some achievements also earn you Starseeds.
- The Arena. When you play someone, your two copies of the game exchange nicknames, player IDs, team power, ratings and the four heroes each of you brings. Then they exchange every move, about ten bytes each, through Game Center. Take-turns matches wait on Game Center between turns. Your journal keeps a record of your finished matches, including each opponent's nickname, player ID and team.
- Friends and SharePlay. Invites happen in Game Center's own screens, and SharePlay runs inside a FaceTime call. The game never sees your contacts.
Game Center decides who sees your nickname, profile and scores, and you control that in Settings › Game Center. Apple's privacy policy covers what Apple does with it. If you'd rather not use Game Center, stay signed out. You'll lose online Arena matches, leaderboards and achievements, but the rest of the game, including Arena practice, plays as normal.
If two games ever disagree about an Arena battle, each one writes a log of the disagreement on its own device. The log stays there and is never sent to us.
Purchases
In-app purchases go through Apple's App Store. Apple takes the payment, and we never see your card, your billing details or your Apple Account. The game receives Apple's signed receipt for the item and uses it to deliver what you bought.
Each purchase carries a scrambled tag that the game makes from your anonymous iCloud ID. The tag makes sure a purchase reaches the same wallet on all your devices, and it doesn't tell us who you are. Apple sends us sales reports with totals by product, date and country, but no names.
Downloads
Most of the game's lands download after you install it. They're Apple-hosted asset packs, and they come straight from Apple's servers, the same way the app does. We don't host them, and we don't see who downloads them.
Crash reports and statistics
The game has no crash reporter or analytics of its own. Apple shares crash reports and usage statistics with us only if you've turned on Share With App Developers (on iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements). Turn it off and nothing is shared.
Apple also shows developers App Store numbers, such as downloads, sales and how often the app is opened. Those are totals, drawn only from people who agreed to share, and none of them says who you are.
If you test a beta through TestFlight, Apple shares the feedback, screenshots and crash reports you send with us, along with the tester details TestFlight shows developers (such as your email address, if we invited you by email).
What the game asks permission for
- Notifications, optional. If you turn on alerts for Errands, the game asks to send notifications so it can tell you when a team is back. Your device schedules them itself. There's no push server.
- World sensing on Apple Vision Pro, optional. If you turn on Battles in your room, the game asks to map your floor and furniture into a battle grid. It uses that map (flat surfaces and a rough shape of the room, no images) to lay out the battle and keeps it only while you play. It isn't saved, and it's never sent to us or anyone else.
- Motion, no prompt needed. The holo cards shimmer when you tilt your device. The game reads the tilt in the moment and never stores it.
That's the full list. The game never asks for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Live settings and the fair-play list
We may publish two small lists in the game's public iCloud space, and the game downloads them. Nothing about you goes up when it does.
- Live settings, such as whether the Arena is open while we fix something.
- The fair-play list. If a player cheats or harasses people in the Arena, we can bar their Game Center player ID from online play, or the game's anonymous iCloud ID where we have it, for a while or for good. An entry holds that ID, the player's nickname, the reason and the dates. The list is only ever about players we've barred, and a bar never touches the single-player game.
Things we don't do
- Show ads of any kind, or read your device's advertising identifier.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Ship analytics, attribution or "growth" kits. Every line of code in the app is ours or Apple's.
- Sell, rent or share personal information, for marketing or for anything else.
- Run servers or keep an account database, so there's no store of player data for anyone to leak.
- Ask for your name, your email, your birthday or a sign-up of our own.
This website
faunafantasy.com is a plain, static site hosted on GitHub Pages.
- No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels, and no videos embedded from other services.
- Nothing loads from anyone else. Every font, picture, video, piece of music and script comes from this site itself. There's no Google Fonts and no outside CDN.
- One preference. If you tick "Readable font" in the footer, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage. It stays on your device and never comes to us.
- Our host. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses to keep its service secure, as its privacy statement explains. We don't get those logs.
- Links to Apple, GitHub and sideresult.com take you to their sites, which have their own policies.
Children and families
Fauna Fantasy is made for a wide audience, but it isn't in the App Store's Kids category. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, and that includes children.
- Every purchase sits behind a parental gate: a press-and-hold, then a times-table question.
- A grown-up can set a monthly spending limit in the game's Settings. Changing it needs the gate too.
- Apple's Ask to Buy and Screen Time work as usual. With Ask to Buy, nothing arrives until the request is approved, and Screen Time can limit Game Center's multiplayer and friend features.
Deleting your data
We don't hold your data, so deleting it is in your hands, and it's quick:
- One journal: delete it from the game's list of journals.
- Everything on one device: delete the app.
- The iCloud copy: on iPhone or iPad, go to Settings › your name › iCloud › Storage (Manage Account Storage), choose Fauna Fantasy, then Delete Data. On a Mac, go to System Settings › your name › iCloud, then Manage.
- Game Center: your profile, friends, scores and achievements belong to Apple's service. Manage them in Settings › Game Center, or ask Apple for a copy or deletion at privacy.apple.com.
- Anything we hold (an email from you, or a fair-play entry about you): write to us and we'll show it to you or delete it. The one exception is a fair-play entry while its bar is still in force.
Your rights, wherever you live
Privacy laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the UK and the CCPA in California give you rights over your personal data: to see it, correct it, delete it, take a copy and object to how it's used. We'll honour those requests wherever you live. In practice, the only personal data we might hold is an email you sent us or a fair-play entry. For anything iCloud, Game Center or the App Store holds, ask Apple at privacy.apple.com.
Where the law asks for a reason to process data: we keep fair-play entries because we have a legitimate interest in a fair Arena, and we keep your emails so we can answer them. We don't sell or share personal information (in the CCPA's sense or any other), so there's nothing to opt out of. Asking about your data will never change how the game treats you. If you're unhappy with how we've handled something, please tell us first. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If the game ever starts handling data in a new way, we'll update this page before the change reaches you, with a new date at the top and a note of what changed. Ads and trackers aren't on the way. Keeping them out is the point.
