The short version

Eight things worth knowing

  • Apple's licence comes first. You get the game under Apple's standard App Store licence. These terms add the house rules.
  • It's yours to play. Play it on Apple devices you own or control. Please don't copy it, resell it or tamper with it.
  • Virtual items belong in the game. Starseeds, Acorns, cards and everything else have no cash value and can't be sold or swapped for money.
  • Refunds go through Apple. Apple takes the payment, so Apple handles refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Keep iCloud on. Your progress is backed up only to your own iCloud. If it's lost, we can't recover it, and Starseeds and other items in it aren't refunded.
  • Every pack shows its odds before you buy or open it, and money never buys a specific card.
  • Play fair in the Arena. No cheats, mods, bots or harassment. We can bar players who break these rules from online play.
  • The game is ours; your play is yours. The art, story, characters, music and code belong to SideResult Software. Streams and videos of your play are welcome.

Last updated 28 October 2026. These terms cover the Fauna Fantasy app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro. How we handle data is in the Privacy Policy.

The agreement

These terms are between you and SideResult Software of Portland, Oregon ("we" and "us"), the developer of Fauna Fantasy. By downloading or playing the game, you agree to them and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), which is the licence for the app itself. These terms add the details that are specific to this game. If anything here ever conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA wins.

Apple isn't a party to these terms and isn't responsible for the game or for supporting it. We are. Your App Store account and payments are covered by Apple's own Media Services terms.

If you're too young to agree to terms like these where you live, a parent or guardian needs to agree for you, and they're responsible for purchases made on your account.

Your licence to play

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play Fauna Fantasy for your own enjoyment, on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow. Please don't:

  • copy, sell, rent or redistribute the game or anything in it;
  • reverse-engineer, modify or tamper with the game, its saves or the messages it sends, except where the law gives you a right to do so;
  • use bots, cheats, exploits or modified versions of the game;
  • use the game to break the law or to infringe anyone else's rights.

Streams, videos and screenshots of your play are welcome, monetised or not. A link to faunafantasy.com is appreciated but not required. Please don't present our art as your own, and don't sell it.

Purchases and virtual items

  • What's for sale. Starseeds (the Shop's currency), bundles, the Starseed Almanac (Starseeds delivered over 30 days) and one-time unlocks such as Auto-Battle. The App Store shows the price in your currency before you pay.
  • Virtual items are a licence, not property. Starseeds, Acorns, shards, tokens, packs, cards, card backs and everything else in the game, bought or earned, are virtual items. You get the right to use them in the game. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for real money or anything outside the game, and can't be sold, traded or transferred.
  • Packs and odds. Every pack shows its odds before you buy or open it, on the Drop Rates screen in the Shop and at the Pack Altar. Money never buys a specific card: crafting with shards is the way to get the card you want. Some countries don't allow paid random packs, and there you open packs with Acorns, tokens and earned Starseeds instead.
  • One-time unlocks such as Auto-Battle and the Founder's Bundle follow you to your other devices and survive a reinstall. If one goes missing, use Restore Purchases in the Shop. Starseeds you've spent stay spent.
  • Grown-ups stay in charge. Every purchase goes through a parental gate, Ask to Buy is honoured, and the game's Settings include an optional monthly spending limit.
  • The game will change. Updates can rebalance cards, items and prices in Acorns. What you bought stays yours to use under these terms.

Refunds

You buy from Apple, so refunds are Apple's call. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves, and we never see your payment details.

If Apple refunds a purchase, the game takes back what it delivered. Refunded Starseeds come off your balance, and a refunded Almanac stops its daily deliveries. Cards you've already opened stay in your Binder. Nothing here limits any refund rights you have under the law where you live.

Fair play in the Arena

The Arena pits players against each other with no server refereeing, so it runs on trust. When you play online:

  • bring a team you earned in your own game, with no modified versions, edited saves, bots or exploits;
  • don't quit or stall matches on purpose to dodge a loss or wear down the other player;
  • be decent to people. Opponents see your Game Center nickname, and Apple's rules apply to it.

If someone breaks these rules, we can bar their Game Center player ID from the Arena and the leaderboards, for a while or for good, and we can remove their scores using Apple's Game Center tools. A bar never touches the single-player game or anything the player bought. If you think we got it wrong, write to us and we'll look again.

Online features

The Arena, leaderboards, achievements, iCloud sync and content downloads all run on Apple's services. They need an internet connection, and sometimes they'll be unavailable. We may also pause an online feature, such as the Arena, for maintenance. Almost everything else plays offline once the game's lands have downloaded.

Our content

Fauna Fantasy, the Everwild, the Wild Accord, Grovehaven, and every character, card, picture, story, piece of music and line of code in the game belong to SideResult Software or to the people who license them to us. For example, some sound effects come from licensed libraries, and the fonts are under the SIL Open Font Licence. Your licence to play doesn't give you the right to use any of it elsewhere, apart from sharing your play as described above. Fan art made for the love of it, and not sold, is welcome.

Your saves and your ideas

Your journals are yours. They live on your devices and in your iCloud, and the Privacy Policy explains how that works. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve the game without owing you anything for them. We'll still say thank you.

iCloud is your backup. The game backs up your journals and your Starseed balance to your own iCloud account, and nowhere else: we never hold a copy. If you play with iCloud turned off for Fauna Fantasy, your progress is kept only on that device, and it's gone if the device is lost or reset or the app is deleted. The same goes if you lose access to your iCloud account or the data in it. With no copy of our own, we can't recover lost progress for you. On Apple TV, the system can clear a game's local storage whenever it needs space, so iCloud matters even more there.

Lost progress isn't refunded. If a journal is lost, we can't restore, replace or refund what was in it: Starseeds, Acorns, cards and other items, bought or earned. One-time unlocks such as Auto-Battle and the Founder's Bundle are the exception, because they're tied to your Apple Account: Restore Purchases in the Shop brings them back.

Updates and changes

We'll keep improving the game, and updates can add, change or remove content. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and say what changed. If you keep playing after that, you're agreeing to the new terms.

Ending things

You can stop any time: delete the app, and its iCloud data too if you like. We can end or limit your access to online features if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we ever stop offering the game, we'll say so here with as much notice as we reasonably can.

  • The Standard EULA's terms on warranties, limits of liability and governing law apply to the game and to these terms. We work hard on Fauna Fantasy, but we can't promise it will be free of bugs or always available.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.
  • If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
